چکیده

Objectives: To determine the frequency of Escherichia coli (E. Coli) with multi-drug resistance and sensitivity to oral Fosfomycin in urinary tract infections a public sector hospital Peshawar Pakistan. Material Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study convenient consecutive sampling technique at Department Medicine Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar. total 179 patients were recruited current study. Detailed history examination carried out followed by routine baseline investigations. Under rigorous aseptic settings, two clean midstream urine samples from exhibiting symptoms infection collected. These then promptly transferred laboratory for evaluation E.Coli inoculation on culture media. Once was detected, it tested antibiotic against antibiotics mentioned. The resistant (MDR) strains isolated their checked fosfomycin. All variables data recorded SPSS version 20. Descriptive inferential statistics will be utilized elaborate findings. Results: mean age this 37 years standard deviation ±11.27.Seventy-three (41%) males 106 (59%) females. One hundred eleven (62%) had multidrug-resistant among which sensitive 108(97%) 3(3%) presenting infection. Conclusion: E. are common our setup. However, fosfomycin has documented these MDR majority UTI cases. Keywords: Multidrug-resistant coli, Drug Sensitivity, Fosfomycin,

Prevalence of plasmid-encoded carbapenemases in multi-drug resistant Escherichia coli from patients with urinary tract infection in northern Iran

Objective(s): Resistance to carbapenems as the last line for controlling resistant bacteria is increasing due to production of carbapenemase. The aim of this study was to detect the plasmid-encoded carbapenemases using phenotypic methods and multiplex PCR among the multi-drug resistant (MDR) isolates from patients with urinary tract infection (UTI) in northern Iran.<br...

Diagnosis and Antibiotic Resistance Distribution in Children with Urinary Tract Infection: A Single Center Experience

Background: Urinary tract infection is a common disease in childhood. The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic performance of urinary analysis, assess the role of urine culture in determining its necessity and evaluate etiologic agents and antimicrobial resistance patterns in children with urinary tract infection. Methods: Our study was made by evaluating the patients who applied to...

Significance of fluoroquinolone-resistant Escherichia coli in urinary tract infections.

Antibiotic-resistant urinary tract infections (UTIs) are on the rise. We investigated the recent emergence of representative resistant strains in patients diagnosed with UTIs at Kobe University Hospital between 2000 and 2006, focusing on resistant strains isolated from the urine of UTI patients, especially fluoroquinolone-resistant Escherichia coli (FQRE), multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aerugi...

Experience with fosfomycin for treatment of urinary tract infections due to multidrug-resistant organisms.

Fosfomycin has shown promising in vitro activity against multidrug-resistant (MDR) urinary pathogens; however, clinical data are lacking. We conducted a retrospective chart review to describe the microbiological and clinical outcomes of urinary tract infections (UTIs) with MDR pathogens treated with fosfomycin tromethamine. Charts for 41 hospitalized patients with a urine culture for an MDR pat...

The role of mannose sensitive and mannose resistant pili of Escherichia coli in urinary tract infection

In order to study the relationship between hrmolysin / ashesins of Escherichia coli and occurrence of urinary tract infection ( UTI), the capacity of 570 isolated E.coli in agglutination of human or guinea pig erythrocytes and their lysis were tested. These isolates were obtained from the urine of patients with bacteriuria and from the stool of healthy people. Three patterns of hemagglutinat...
